Stamps on Malaysian palm trees.

STAMP collectors can start a collection on Malaysian palm tree species when Pos Malaysia Bhd launches stamps and first-day covers on three species next week.

The stamps and first-day covers featuring three designs — the Fish Tail Palm, Fan Palm and Serdang Palm — will be available for sale at all post offices nationwide next Tuesday.

Launch of new stamp and first day cover on palm trees species on 15 May 09.

Pos Malaysia stamp and philately unit head Yasmin Ramli said the stamps, printed in sheets of 20, come in denominations of 50 sen while the first-day covers would be sold at 30 sen each.

Miniature sheets available at RM3 each and folders at RM5.50 each would be available only at selected post offices. The full set costs RM40.60.

Collectors can also get the items without queuing up at the post office on the day of issue by logging on to www.posonline.com.my.

Also, in conjunction with the 35th year of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, Pos Malaysia will launch a special collector’s item on May 31.
